TRI Region 5 Snapshot

The 2006 TRI data are in, and four of the six Region 5 states posted pollution decreases from 2005. Wisconsin and Ohio show slight increases in chemical releases.

State data breakdown of total on- and off-site releases:

  • Minnesota. Facilities reported 26,103,867 pounds of chemicals released, down from the 27,314,213 pounds released in 2005.
  • Wisconsin. Total releases in 2006 were 45,998,888 pounds, a minimal increase from the 45,790,292 pounds reported for 2005.
  • Michigan. Facilities reported 87,174,457 pounds released, down from the 102,111,635 pounds released in 2005.
  • Illinois. Total releases in 2006 were 112,558,536 pounds, a drop from the 2005 total of 122,608,953 pounds.
  • Indiana. Total releases in 2006 were 236,869,696 pounds, a slight drop from the 249,213,026 pounds released in 2005.
  • Ohio. Releases in 2006 totaled 291,343,874 pounds, up from the 277,126,010 pounds released in 2005.
