Hazardous Waste Operator Sentenced to 41 Months in Prison for Environmental Crimes
A Mississippi man was recently sentenced to 41 months in prison and 3 years' probation for illegally storing and disposing hazardous waste. The indictment charged him with having disposed of hazardous waste contaminated with the heavy metals cadmium, chromium, and lead that he had been paid to recycle into marketable products.

Compliance Quiz: Requirements to report releases of reportable quantities of hazardous substances under CERCLA and extremely hazardous substances under EPCRA are similar, but not identical. For example, under CERCLA an owner/operator is required to report releases that go beyond the confines of an enclosed structure. This is not the case under EPCRA. What is the difference?
