Alaska Paid Large Fine for Spill
IMC Shipping Co. (IMC) of Singapore and Ayu Navigation of Malaysia paid the state of Alaska $844,707 to settle civil claims resulting from the grounding of the Selendang Ayu. With the exception of penalties resulting from the Exxon Valdez disaster, the amount is the largest oil spill penalty ever recovered by the state.
