Iowa: Minor source air emissions inventory deadline approaches

The Iowa Department of Natural Resources (DNR) requires minor sources to submit an air emissions inventory report every 3 years. In 2017, minor sources in the central section of the state that fall under the jurisdiction of DNR Field Offices 2 and 5 must submit their emissions reports by May 15, 2017.

As an EHS professional, it’s hard to tell if you are being paid competitively, and as an employer, it’s hard to tell if you are offering salaries that are competitive and efficient. For a Limited Time we’re offering a FREE copy of the 2017 EHS Salary Guide! Download Now

The DNR encourages facilities to submit emissions inventory reports using the State and Local Emissions Inventory System (SLEIS), a Web-based emissions inventory reporting system, but paper submissions are accepted. Inventories must include PM-2.5, PM-10, sulfur dioxide (SO2), nitrogen oxides (NOx), volatile organic compounds (VOCs), carbon monoxide (CO), lead, hazardous air pollutants (HAPs), and ammonia emissions from nonexempt point sources, as well as fugitive emissions.

Any facility requiring assistance with an emissions inventory may contact the Iowa Air Emissions Assistance Program (IAEAP) at the University of Northern Iowa.

For more information, contact DNR’s Nick Page at Nick.Page@dnr.iowa.gov or by phone at 515-725-9544.
