Containment Buildings

National Summary
A containment building is a totally enclosed structure (i.e., with walls, a floor, and a roof) that is used to store hazardous waste. It is, itself, the storage method and is not just a building in which containers are stored. It is designed and constructed of man-made materials with sufficient strength to be self-supporting. The primary purpose of containment buildings is to store large amounts of hazardous waste before the waste is disposed of, recycled, recovered, treated, or transported off-site.
