National Summary
The term "contingency plan" can refer to any of the emergency response plans required by numerous statutes and regulations and administered by several agencies. A particular facility may be subject to one or more contingency plans. However, facilities can consolidate the multiple plans into one functional emergency response plan called an integrated contingency plan (ICP). The intent of the ICP is to minimize duplication in preparing and training staff on using several emergency response plans.
