Effluent Limitations

National Summary Effluent limitations represent the maximum quantity, rate, and concentration of specific pollutants allowed to be discharged from point sources such as pipes, ditches, channels, wells, and containers. The limitations apply to discharges of wastewater directly into a water body. Effluent limitations are applied according to a two-tiered approach. The first tier focuses on the technological feasibility of achieving industry standards.
