Emergency Planning and Response

National Summary Emergency planning and response, as used in environmental regulation, is both a specific term that refers to extremely hazardous substances (EHS) under EPCRA and a general term that refers to planning for and reacting to unforeseen events. EPCRA requirements apply to facilities that have EHS on-site in a quantity greater than its threshold planning quantity (TPQ) or that release any reportable quantities of certain substances.
