Personal Protective Equip.

National Summary
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is designed to protect employees from serious workplace injuries or illnesses resulting from contact with chemical, physical, mechanical, or other workplace hazards. The standards are based more on performance or outcome than on precise procedure. It is up to the employer to assess hazards, and to select proper equipment. OSHA, NIOSH, ANSI, EPA, and the U.S. Coast Guard administer and enforce standards for the design, use, and maintenance of PPE.
