National Summary
Technological advances have created a dependence on electronic products both at home and in the workplace. As a result, used electronics waste is creating a new, rapidly growing wastestream. Electronic equipment, such as television screens, computers, DVD players, copying machines, and cell phones, can contain hazardous materials such as lead, mercury, and hexavalent chromium in circuit boards, batteries, and color CRTs.
