Land Treatment
National Summary
Land treatment is unique. Unlike landfills and surface impoundments, where waste is put onto the land and the facility has one or two liners, a land treatment facility is unlined and the hazardous waste is either applied on the soil surface or incorporated into the upper layers of the soil in order to degrade, transform, or immobilize hazardous constituents present in the hazardous waste.
